I Made my decision to do Calf implants in 2005 while living in Santa Barbara CA. After working out and trying every calf exercise known to man i just could not get to my goal. I am writing per the request of Marcia Kopelman as she mentioned you are considering pectoral implants with Dr. Gershenbaum and she asked my to share my own experience.

My situation is that I have worked out consistently for 15 years and while I have muscular arms and shoulders, my chest would not grow no matter how hard I pushed it during workouts. I originally considered pectoral implants in the year 2000 while living in Los Angeles but I wasn't satisfied with the photos of the final results.

A few months back (12 years later), I started doing research again to see if there were any advancements. I learned that the shape of the pec implants have changed over the years. I also learned a huge part of achieving good results and minimizing risk of complications is choosing a doctor who is experienced with placement. Dr. Gershenbaum's was one of only a few names I discovered as being highly recommended from across the US for pectoral implants.

I had pectoral implants exactly 6 weeks ago today with Dr. Gershenbaum. Suffice it to say, I very happy with the results. In fact, my results look so good that had I known they would look this good, I would have done it years ago.

The procedure itself was pretty uneventful. The entire staff (from Marcia to the Anesthesiologist to the surgical team) was amazing and they did a great job at making me feel comfortable. Before I knew it, I was waking up in the recovery room.

The recovery was kind of hard, especially the first 4 days. Be prepared to follow the doctor's orders to the letter and be prepared to be moving slowly for a few weeks. Also, make sure that you have button up shirts you can wear because you will not be able to pull shirts on and off over your head. I have had *zero* complications and the scars at the insertion point are nearly undetectable at 6 weeks.

My healing is right on schedule. I started doing light cardio and lifting lower body at week 4. With the exception of lifting upper body, my life is completely back to normal.

In the past, I used to feel self-conscious about the shape and mass of my chest. Now, the shape of my body has never looked better, even when I was 15 years younger. Pectoral implants with Dr. Gershenbaum gave my body the balance that was missing.

Calf Implants and Liposuction Patient

I am a 52 year old attorney-businessman from New Orleans. I have worked out daily, since I was 16 years old. I have an excellent diet. No matter how hard I worked out, my calves never grew, and were disproportionate to the rest of my body. Additionally, as I entered my late forties and fifties, I noticed I was suffering from a case of “man boobs”.

About a one year ago I spoke with several cosmetic surgeons in the New Orleans metropolitan area, while most of them were familiar with the procedure to eliminate my man boobs, none had any experience, nor performed the calf augmentation surgery. My desire was to have both of the procedures performed by one physician at the same time. Accordingly, I used the internet to obtain the references of physician who could accommodate my needs. My research indicated that there were only a few doctors who performed the calf augmentation surgery, located in Hollywood/Los Angeles, California, New York, and Miami, Florida. I researched those physicians, including testimonials by men who had undergone surgeries in which I was interested. Undoubtedly, Dr. Sam Gershenbaum was at the top of my list.

As a practicing personal-injury attorney and businessman, for over the past thirty years, I have met, known, and worked with a lot of physicians. As to a lot of physicians, let me say, most of them don’t “practice what they preach.” When I first met Dr. G for the initial assessment, a day before the surgery, what impressed me was that “he practiced what he preached.” He obviously lead a good lifestyle, meaning, he had an excellent diet and worked out regularly. I say this, because to me a physician with these attributes takes pride in accomplishing the best result. Dr. G is excellent! He is a perfectionist!
I was pre-warned by his staff that his “procedures usually took a little bit longer because he took his time to insure perfection.”

Under general anesthesia I underwent two procedures, one liposuction of my chest and two placing four calf implant, one inside and outside of both calves of both legs. When I awoke, I did have discomfort, but that was easily managed by meds. I stayed at a hotel practically located right next door to Dr. G’s clinic. During that week, there was pain, discomfort and restriction, but again, I could manage it with the meds. Although I left to return to New Orleans one week after the surgery, I would strongly urge out of towner’s to stay two weeks in Miami, prior to traveling back to their city of origin. When the bandages were removed from my chest and calves, my jaw dropped with amazement, as I saw for the first time the elimination of my man boobs, and presence of calves, symmetrical to the upper muscles of my legs. Unbelievable! All my life I have been embarrassed about having small calves.

I must also credit Dr. G’s office manager, Marcia. I can’t tell you how professional, personable and accommodative Marcia was to me. She handled everything! Marcia made available to me a qualified, medical nurse (Dottie), who stayed with me at the hotel the first few days following the surgery. She also made available to me a driver “Larry,” who got me to and from wherever I had to go, on time, and made all of the journey’s fun with conversation and laughter. Everyone connected with Dr. G’s office made my experience with the surgeries, “over the top.”

Since that time, (as Dr. G had told me so), the esthetic, visual look of both my chest and calves have improved immensely. I would recommend Dr. G and his entire staff with the upmost confidence to all those seeking outstanding cosmetic surgery, professionalism and quality of experience. I had my breast augmentation with Dr. Gershenbaum on April 7, 2011. I could not be happier with my results. I did a lot of research on plastic surgeons in South Florida. Three years ago I had breast augmentation surgery. Unfortunately I had capsular contracture and had to have one more surgery. After my second surgery, capsular contracture repeated itself. My breasts were hard and they did not look right. Dr. Gershenbaum recommended the use of Strattice which was costly. About five months ago I had my third and final surgery where Strattice was used. I'm a man, 42 years old, who lives in the country Suriname in South America. On May 12th 2011 I underwent a bilaterale otoplasty. Dr.Sam Gershenbaum was the plastic surgeon who helped me. We chose your particular office after extensive internet searches comparing track records, any possible previous complaints , and prices.

Compared to most Western European prices, Florida is very affordable.

There is a long tradition and reputation on cosmetic surgery, best treatment and post-operative care possible in the world. Same language and beautiful surroundings, all of this far enough away to justify a great holiday.

We would rather fly to America than neighboring Countries like the UK, Sweden or here, in Switerland because of the very high costs and would simply never venture into much more affordable countries in Eastern Europe or South America like Czech Republic, Brazil because of their very poor track records on health and safety, not speaking same language, etc.

It was quite a traumatic experience for the first few days after the surgery, looking at the mirror and being very scared of the outcome. As the swelling and bruising diminished (always very well looked after by a full time nurse and having 24hr contact with your office) our self-confidence returned and a few months later I feel every penny was well spent and will definately go back and finish a few imperfections left in our natural genetic makeup.

Dr. Gershenbaum lived up to our expectations of him and ensured we were looked after and cared for every step of the way, before and after the surgeries. Also, the emotional support and reassurance were very important during that period as one gets anxious and has doubts. Nothing like a bit of empathy and TLC in an unfamiliar environment.

I am working on television and film and turned 35 years old, I wanted to look my age or younger and now I notice new skin growing that is smooth and even tone. My procedure was quick and not very painful. The few minutes after the laser are not comfortable but your staff made me feel better right away. I was at a meeting the next morning ! I traveled from New York to Florida after many years of reviewing this surgeon. Most of my communication was via email and over the telephone. Once i arrived at Dr. Gershenbaum's office i met with him. The dr. actually told me things I did not need done and should not have done. He listened to me and took his time despite how busy he is. I had pectoral implants, radix osteotomi and liposuction everywhere. I am told that the real results are seen months after surgery but after only two weeks i look 20 years younger. I was told that i have a waist of a teen male. I could not believe my ears but must admit that it is true. My chest looks and feels amazing. Genetically this would be an impossibility for me. To make a long story short my only regret is having waited so long to have met with Dr. Sam Gershenbaum. I consider him a man with a gift that very few have and am eternally thankful to him for the rest of my life. I am positive that as father time takes a toll on my body I will be sure to seek out Dr. Gershenbaum's magic again. Needless to say, I highly recommend him and his fantastic staff in accordance with the highest of standards, professionalism and simply an artist/perfectionist.
